Brand new songs, written by primary school children, inspired by connections with care home residents.
The Harmony Project is an intergenerational storytelling and music-making project which sees a primary school paired with a local care home or residential home. They come together to tell stories and then the children, with the help of a musician and drama artist, create a song inspired by their time together. They will then record the song at Perth Concert Hall and perform live at their partnered care home.
Is your school looking for a exciting new play to perform this Christmas?
Last year we piloted our first ever Blueprint project.
Grandtully and Pitcairn Primary Schools participated in workshops, with their ideas being included in a script for a new Christmas show called Scattered. The show includes 9 new songs written by local musician Amy Rayner and focuses on a town where Christmas has been forgotten. It follows a group of adventurers as they travel far and wide to bring the celebration back home. Reflecting on themes such as kindness, friendship and teamwork, the script is written for primary schools to perform, with elements that they can adapt to suit them, even the name of the show is up for grabs!
Here is some of the feedback we received last year:
'We liked the story, how the adventurers went different places. Everyone had their own parts, there was no main character.'
'It was a good structure for a show, but we could tweak things. If we wanted to change something we could.'
'We really enjoyed all the songs, they were catchy and easy to learn with a good variety of styles. The themes were also great and engaged everyone.'
We would love some more schools to perform Scattered this year and give us their feedback on the show. If you are interested please get in touch.
At Perth Theatre and Concert Hall, our goal is to make theatre accessible for you and your pupils.
This leaflet provides a brief overview of what we can offer your school as a Learning & Engagement department. Please do get in touch if you would like to book any of these activities.
