It would not be hyperbole to describe the Zehetmair Quartet as one of the world’s finest. Formed by violinist Thomas Zehetmair 20 years ago, their hallmark is playing the quartet repertoire from memory. This group of four brilliant soloists offer a lovely programme ranging from Sibelius’s dark, brooding Voces Intimae to Brahms first string quartet. This great composer waited until the age of 40 to compose his first quartet but the transcendent results are well worth waiting for.
