Join Perth Theatre and Concert Hall for a special Dance for Parkinson’s class with special guest teachers David Leventhal and Lucy Bowen.

Part One - 13:30 - 15:00

This Masterclass is open to dance artists and musicians currently teaching Dance for Parkinson’s classes. The session will offer practical, movement-based tools to develop your practice in dancing with Parkinson’s and will greatly benefit teaching artists and community dance practitioners regardless of experience.

David Leventhal - Biography

David leads classes for people living with Parkinson’s disease around the world and has trained more than 3,000 teaching artists in 30 countries in the Dance for PD method, which he helped develop from the program’s inception in 2001.

Lucy Bowen - Biography

Lucy’s passion for dance, choreography and serving the Parkinson’s community inspired her to work with Dance for PD to create the Bowen Fund, which supports choreographers, teachers, and organisations through Dance for PD Launch Grants and the Bowen Award for Inclusive Choreography, as well as activities in Dance for PD’s Mid-Atlantic Hub.

Part Two - 15:00 - 17:30

Rhythm & Revelry continues in Perth Theatre after the Masterclass until 17:30 with Networking and Refreshments, and The Main Event which includes talks, Q&A and the premiere of the dance film Spell Body, choreographed by Niamh O’Louhglin and made with Dance for Parkinson’s dancers from Perth and Alva.

This event is free to attend for those attending the Masterclass.

Niamh O'Loughlin - Biography

Niamh is an Irish dance artist based in Dundee. Her work spans screendance, outdoor performance, theatre and participatory practice, often drawing on folklore, mythology, and the stories we tell to make sense of the world. Niamh creates work for a wide range of audiences, from children and families to contemporary arts audiences, and is interested in the meeting point between movement, storytelling, and place. They are currently an Associate Artist with Scottish Dance Theatre and have presented work across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
