Performing a Scene
Calum Kelly, Elfie Picket Theatre
A new workshop led by hub member Calum Kelly of Elfie Picket Theatre exploring the purpose of a scene and how an actor is expected to interpret it. This is a practical acting workshop however is open to all and will benefit artists of any discipline.
Through exploring and performing the texts of Elfie Picket (with a bit of improv too), participants will explore the intersection between what a director wants; what a writer has written; and what is expected of an actor.
Participants will learn how to interpret the scene professionally as well as exploring methods of performance.
Calum Kelly is a playwright and director. His most recent work includes directing Ane City at Dundee Rep (2023) as well as writing Pushin 30 (2024) which performed at the Oran Mor, The Traverse Theatre & The Ayr Gaiety as part of A Play, A Pie & A Pint
His new play Goodbye Dreamland Bowlarama will open on 12th May at The Oran Mor.
